Meet The Herbalist

My journey starts with dry eczema by turning to herbs for personal well-being along with food nutrition. My passion has now evolved through learning and understanding each plant, growing own food & herbs, culinary and holistic skincare & health. Started in 2010 due to eczema and doing herbal consultations and skincare products for clients in Singapore. I realised that no skincare products back then meets my requirements for healing. And so I decided to pursue further in order to help others. 

In the midst of 2021, a month after moving to a new home, my eczema triggered again and became chronic, due to the change in environment. And then in 2022 during the pandemic, I was diagnosed with Myotome Sciatica, and my Chiropractor informed me of my anxiety during my therapy sessions. These issues really affected my physical, emotional and mental health, as I needed to find ways to cope not only with different stressors but also changing my lifestyle, habits and nutrition. That's when I decided I needed to extend my education in helping myself to cope with the ever changing fast lifestyle.

I believe that at any stage of life, one has to overcome obstacles in their life; but very importantly, one has to be willing to do it.

I had previously assisted Teresa Foo, the founder of Balm Botanique (previously known as Balm Kitchen) for several of her workshop events: Media, Bloggers and Celebrities; AirBnB Design Trail; @ the Mahota; Singapore Art Museum and The Ministry of Education - showcasing products, sharing knowledge of holistic skincare and herbalism.

 

In 2019, I took a solo trip to France on my own, and attended French Cooking Class, Culinary Herbs & visited the Farmers Market in Lyon. Since the trip, my interests had developed further to learn different types of herbs used in different cultures and traditions. I'm currently pursuing to grow my own herbal business online as both a qualified herbalist, naturopath & skincare practitioner.

 

On the other hand, I'm also a volunteer with Herbalist Without Borders (HWB), representing Singapore Wholistic Chapter. My first project was helped coordinate the Nepal Relief Aid Project. This is a Humanitarian Relief Aid Earthquake Project started in 2015, a month after multiple earthquakes erupted. Our HWB USA Chapter provided aid to make herbal tinctures and supplies. With the help of Edible Garden City (EGC), we were able make the tinctures, before dispatching them to volunteers in Nepal.
